Vaporizer Marijuana Bongs

By:

Published: November 9, 2006

Marijuana smokers have long been known for their creativity and almost utilitarian view regarding their habit. When real pot-smokers—not the recreational or social smokers—indulge themselves, something special is taking place.

The mastery and creativity with which they embrace their muse is unparalleled by most hobbyists and similar to the aficionados of any indulgence and acolytes to their plant as devotees of any dogma.

Most people on the outside may not understand it and cannot appreciate it, but for those in the loop, marijuana use is a lifestyle.

Nowhere is this more evident than in how the marijuana user smokes his weed.

Where tobacco users are dedicated to one particular delivery system of the drug—apprehensive to smoke anything but their brand— marijuana users are more flexible. Smoking marijuana includes the use of rolling papers, bongs, bowls, teas and baked goods.

Departing from pipes and joints, the two most popular ways to smoke are with specifically designed-for-marijuana bongs and vaporizer bongs.

There are many different types and styles of bongs. Although nearly all bongs operate on the same principle, style and design are the primary characteristics making each different and unique.

Bongs traditionally are composed of five parts: the mouthpiece, chamber, base, stem and bowl. The creativity in making bongs comes in the design, materials and construction of the chamber. Materials include ceramic, glass and different plastics while others even incorporate the use of wood or bamboo. Perhaps most popular are glass bongs. Glass marijuana bongs allow the artisan a great deal of flexibility since glass is a malleable medium which can be frosted or colored in nearly every hue and bent into almost any imaginable shape.

Along with traditional marijuana bongs, vaporizer bongs, or vapies, have become popular. Considerably more expensive than their counterparts, vaporizers offer a better, healthier high. Much like hookahs, instead of burning marijuana, vapies vaporize the THC-containing oils from the plant.

Depending on the style, vapies use either conduction or convection to heat the marijuana. Conduction vapies generally are considered better since they heat more evenly than their convection-based kin. Vaporizer bongs range in price from less than $100 to more than $500. The main variables affecting the price are the materials used in construction and controls.
